Spurs eye Uruguayan.
Tottenham’s new head coach Andre Villas-Boas wants to bring Porto full-back Alvaro Pereira to White Hart Lane.
Villas-Boas managed the 26-year-old at the Portuguese club and tried to sign him when he was Chelsea manager. Villas-Boas will now make a renewed attempt to bring him to the Premier League with Tottenham.
Pereira can play left-back or in midfield and is wanted to provide competition for Benoit Assou-Ekotto and Gareth Bale.
Chelsea were told last summer that they must meet the Uruguay international’s £25 million release clause but Spurs are unwilling to pay upward of £15 million for Pereira and hope Porto will be more willing to negotiate this summer.
