Argentine leaves UAE side.
Diego Maradona sacked as manager of Al Wasl
Diego Maradona has been sacked from his role as manager of United Arab Emirates side Al Wasl after 14 months in charge.
The legendary Argentinian’s position had been in doubt since June when the club’s entire board resigned following a trophyless season.
Maradona, 51, joined the Dubai-based club in May 2011 and still had a year to run on his contract.

This is perhaps not a huge shock given that Maradona’s side Al Wasl finished last term in eighth place, a position that sounds much worse when you consider that the UAE top tier only has 12 teams.
The Argentine legend has also had a few run-ins with his club’s owners as well as opposition fans and one wonders what the 51 year old will do next.
Maradona took over at Al Wasl in May last year after a fairly average spell in charge of the Argentine national team.
