Attacking threesome set for Anfield exits?
Rodriguez set to return to native Argentina as Newell’s line up Kop winger
Liverpool midfielder Maxi Rodriguez is wanted by Argentine club Newell’s Old Boys.
The 31-year-old has one year left on his contract but Newell’s secretary Pablo Morosano said: ‘We are waiting for news. There is ongoing contact and we have a deal agreed with him.’

Maxi appears to be heading back to his native Argentina after a two and a half year spell at Liverpool which has seen some highs but mainly lows for the 31 year old.
The adaptable attacking midfielder arrived at Anfield from Atletico Madrid at the tail end of Rafa Benitez’s reign at the club and struggled to convince both Roy Hodgson and Kenny Dalglish of his worth, spending much of the past two seasons warming the bench.
However Maxi can be pleased with his efforts overall and many Liverpool fans will be of the opinion that the talented midfielder was never really given a chance to impress.
Much like Dirk Kuyt and Yossi Benayoun, the Argentina international was able to make something out of nothing and his record of 15 goals from 48 Premier League appearances is a pretty solid one given the lean period the Merseyside club has enjoyed during his time at the club.
