Playmaker Pienaar set for £5m return to Everton as AVB begins Spurs clear-out
Steven Pienaar is close to finalising a £5m return to former club Everton.
Chairman Bill Kenwright has been locked in talks with Tottenham over a permanent move for the South Africa playmaker, who spent the back-end of last season on loan at Goodison Park.

It does seem that Steven Pienaar’s move to Tottenham was fairly pointless. Harry Redknapp invested £3m in the South African but then handed him just five Premier League starts in his first year at the North London club and then proceeded to loan the midfielder back to the Toffees for the second half of the last campaign.
Ever since then Pienaar has been strongly linked with a move back to Goodison Park and seemingly only an appropriate fee has stood between Tottenham and Everton. If David Moyes is willing to offer £5m that seems like more than a fair price for White Hart Lane chairman Daniel Levy to accept.
Pienaar has racked up 146 appearances for the Merseyside club, netting 16 goals in the process.
