Brazilian joins Ligue 1 giants.
Paris Saint-Germain have signed AC Milan centre-half Thiago Silva for £33 million.
Milan released a statement confirming the Brazilian’s departure before PSG confirmed the news, announcing that Silva had signed a five-year deal, reportedly worth £5.8 million per season.
Premier League Champions Manchester City had expressed an interest in Silva but declined making an offer due to his high wage demands.
The 27-year-old had been with Milan for three years after signing from Brazilian club Fluminense in December 2008.
PSG are also in negotiations with the Rossoneri for striker Zlatan Ibrahimovich but it is understood that the clubs are treating the deals separately and expected Silva’s move to be completed before the Swede’s.
Silva becomes the second most expensive defender of all time, just ahead of Dani Alves but behind Rio Ferdinand who joined Manchester United from Leeds for £35 million in 2002.
PSG have already signed Argentine Ezequiel Lavezzi from Napoli this summer. The mega-rich Parisiens are owned by a Qatari consortium and managed by ex-Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelloti.
