Loftus Road boss wants to reunite with Anfield forward.
Hughes makes late bid to sign old friend Bellamy from under the nose of Cardiff
QPR have launched a last-minute bid to hijack Craig Bellamy’s switch to Cardiff City.
The Liverpool forward had been expected to complete a return to his hometown club by the end of the month, but his head has been turned by an offer from Loftus Road.
Manager Brendan Rodgers hinted at the switch to Wales when he revealed only a ‘really special and unique opportunity’ would get Bellamy out of the club he rejoined only last year.

Having already seen Dirk Kuyt and Maxi Rodriguez leave the club it appears that Brendan Rodgers is ready to allow another veteran to make a Liverpool exit and QPR may well beat Cardiff City to the punch in the race for Welsh international Craig Bellamy.
The 32 year old enjoyed a fairly successful return to Merseyside last term, scoring nine goals in all competitions during a season that he spent much of coming from the bench in effective cameo roles. There is no doubting that the adaptable attacker has a season or two of top level football in him and Bellamy certainly still has the hunger and desire that has been present throughout his eventful career.
QPR have already brought in a few top notch signings with Mark Hughes bringing in Park-Ji Sung, Robert Green and Andy Johnson as well as securing Samba Diakate on a permanent deal.
Clearly Hughes knows Bellamy well from their shared time at Man City and with the Welsh national team.
