Di Canio eyes Aussie.
Former Liverpool winger Harry Kewell is on the verge of a shock return to English football with League One Swindon Town, reports the Daily Mail.
The Australian star, who was the shining light in a Leeds team that reached the semi-final of the Champions League in 2001, was linked to Blackburn Rovers but the moved has collapsed. Fellow Championship side Middlesborough are also said to be interested in the wide-man.
Free-agent Kewell is desperate to land a new club in the England after returning to the UK with his English wife, whose mother is gravely ill.
The 33-year-old had been playing in his native Australia for A-League side Melbourne Victory but now looks set to join Swindon’s outspoken manager Paulo Di Canio at the City Ground.
The Italian has been in touch with Kewell and hopes to secure a deal by the end of next week.
