Etihad Stadium side chase Kenyan international.
Man City consider Wanyama bid as they wait for Van Persie developments
Manchester City are monitoring Celtic midfielder Victor Wanyama while they continue to wait on separate developments with Robin van Persie.
The defending Premier League champions have concerns over their defensive midfield position with injured Gareth Barry struggling to make the start of the season and Nigel de Jong looking to leave.
They also want cover for Yaya Toure and see potential in powerful Kenyan Wanyama who has expressed a desire to leave Celtic. The 21-year-old has been watched by Liverpool, Newcastle and QPR.

If Roberto Mancini were indeed to make an offer for Celtic midfielder Victor Wanyama then one would imagine that Dutch international Nigel de Jong would start looking for an alternative club as he is clearly ideally placed to fill the void should Yaya Toure be unavailable.
De Jong has found himself something of a bit part player at the Etihad Stadium anyway so a move away from the Etihad Stadium is very plausible and perhaps Mancini is looking for a more youthful back-up.
Neil Lennon is desperately trying to keep the young Kenyan but will clearly struggle to prevent the player looking to force a move away from Parkhead if the Premier League title holders come calling.
Wanyama arrived in Glasgow last August following a £900k move from Belgian side Beerschot and the defensive midfielder went on to make 41 appearances last term as Celtic secured the SPL title.
