Mexican to complete La Liga switch.
Arsenal forward Carlos Vela is finally set to leave the Emirates after the north London club confirmed they were in advances negotiations with Real Sociedad over the Mexican’s transfer.
The 23-year-old spent last season on loan with the La Liga outfit and is now set to join the Spaniards in a permanent deal.
A statement on Arsenal’s official website read, “Arsenal Football Club has announced that striker Carlos Vela is in San Sebastian this evening for final discussions about a permanent move to Spanish La Liga side Real Sociedad.”
Vela joined Arsenal in 2005 but, after complications with his work permit, had to wait three seasons before making his Premier League debut against Newcastle United in 2008.
The Mexico international has gone on to make just 29 league appearances for the Gunners, scoring three times.
Vela has been sent out on loan no less than four times, including a short stint with West Brom – where he scored twice – and last’s season’s spell at Sociedad.
He has 35 caps for Mexico and has scored 9 times.
