RVP eyes Serie A switch.
Robin van Persie wants to join Serie A giants Juventus but Arsenal are set to tell the striker he must see out the final year of his contract.
The Dutch goal machine announced earlier this month that he wanted to leave the Emirates, citing irreconcilable differences between himself and the club’s hierarchy.
Manchester City have been linked with a move for the 29-year-old but, according to the Herald, van Persie favours a move to Italian Champions Juventus.
The Dutch ace reported back to pre-season training with the Gunners yesterday and is set to tell boss Arsene Wenger and chief executive Ivan Gazidis that his preference is for a move to Turin.
Juventus had a token £8 million bid for van Persie rejected earlier this month but are reportedly prepared to significantly raise their offer to land to former Feyenoord front-man.
However, Goal.com understands that Arsenal will tell van Persie that he will not be allowed to leave the club this summer after officials decided to gamble on the losing him for nothing next year.
If the north London club gets its wish, van Persie, who scored 30 league goals last season, will be forced to see out the last year of his contract.
Arsenal remain hopeful, however, that van Persie can still be persuaded to sign a new contract at the Emirates.
