Anfield manager keen on Craven Cottage star.
In an interview with Liverpoolfc.com at the team hotel in Boston, the manager moved to clarify the club’s position on the USA international, who scored 23 goals for Fulham last season.
“Clint is a player we’ve enquired about, it is as simple as that,” said Rodgers.
“Ian Ayre, our managing director, has spoken with the club to see what the position is. That is where we’re at.
“He’s a very talented player but we don’t like to talk about other clubs’ players.”

This is of course a far cry from the confirmation on the official Fenway Sports Group’s official website, Liverpool’s owners, that stated that the Merseyside club had already completed the signing of Fulham attacker Clint Dempsey.
It’s perhaps no surprise that Liverpool are pursuing the 29 year old given the paucity of attacking options Rodgers has to select from in his current Anfield squad. Though Fabio Borini has been brought in from Roma there is growing speculation that Andy Carroll is on his way out and aside from the reliable Luis Suarez the only other player on hand to offer striking support is veteran Craig Bellamy.
Dempsey has just a year to run on his current contract and having spent six years at Fulham may well feel that the time is right for a new challenge. Last term was the Texan’s most prolific to date with the Craven Cottage attacker, who can play either as an orthodox striker or as an advanced central midfielder, scoring 23 goals in all competitions.
