Anfield side step up chase for Craven Cottage star.
Liverpool consider offering Adam to Fulham in bid to speed up Dempsey capture
Charlie Adam could be used as a makeweight in the deal to take Clint Dempsey from Fulham to Liverpool.
The Scotland midfielder only joined the Anfield club from Blackpool last summer but failed to make an instant impression.
Liverpool are leading the race for American Dempsey and could be convinced to include Adam, who would be further sidelined if new boss Brendan Rodgers completes a £15million move for Swansea’s Joe Allen.

This seems somewhat unlikely, not least because Charlie Adam must figure as part of Brendan Rodgers’ Liverpool plans, the Scot did after all finish last term as the Anfield side’s leading assist maker, albeit failing to weigh in with a goals total similar to that which he managed at Blackpool.
Liverpool do seem to be closing in on American international Clint Dempsey but Fulham, if they are to sell the 29 year old Texan, will probably be looking to secure a cash only deal so that Martin Jol can then pump funds straight back into his Craven Cottage side. A side that has already seen Andy Johnson and Danny Murphy leave on free transfers.
Rodgers has admitted interest in Swansea City midfielder Joe Allen but his potential arrival may well lead to the sale of further Liverpool players, having seen Maxi and Dirk Kuyt already leave the Merseyside club, Charlie Adam is surely less likely to make an exit than some of his under-performing team-mates.
