Old Trafford boss lines up bids for Goodison Park and Craven Cottage duo.
Manchester United have stepped up their interest in Fulham’s Moussa Dembele and believe they can land the Belgium star before the start of the season.
It is believed that Fulham are aware of Sir Alex Ferguson’s desire to sign Dembele, who shone for Fulham last season after being moved from a second striker’s role into the centre of midfield.
Fergie’s interest in the player was exclusively revealed by People Sport in March and we also told you that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has been closely monitoring the player.
The Cottagers will demand at least £15million for the 25-year-old but United seem willing to make a substantial offer.

Leighton Baines in Man United sights as Fergie confirms left-back hunt
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is considering an £8 million raid for Everton star Leighton Baines, after confirming plans to bring in a new left-back this summer.
The decision comes after Ferguson opted against promoting youngsters Robbie Brady and Tyler Blackett to the first-team squad, after handing them an opportunity to become Patrice Evra’s deputy during pre-season.
Though Sir Alex Ferguson has brought in Shinji Kagawa and Nick Powell from Borussia Dortmund and Crewe Alexandra respectively it does seem that the Old Trafford boss hasn’t finished his summer spending, not by a long shot. Having seen Chelsea spend freely and Man City seemingly set to do likewise the Scot will feel compelled to add a new signing or two to a squad that lost their Premier League crown last term and bowed out of the Champions League at the first hurdle.
Ferguson has tracked Everton full-back Baines for some time but a bid of £8m may well be deemed derisory by the Goodison Park side and no matter how hard up for funds the Merseyside club are they will surely never consider such a fee for the England international.
Man United are perhaps looking for a player who can keep Patrice Evra on his toes, with the French international being relatively unopposed for most of his time at Old Trafford. Indeed the 27 year old England international could well produce a titanic struggle for the left-back slot.
Moves for Moussa Dembele are perhaps a little harder to fathom.
Whilst it may be true that Ferguson would be looking to bring in more creativity and attacking verve to the Man United midfield one wonders if a move to sign the Fulham man is the right man for the job. Yes the Belgian international had a good season at Craven Cottage last term and the 25 year old is an adaptable performer, but is he good enough to figure highly in a side looking to secure the very highest of both domestic and European honours? Surely the jury is out on that front.
A bid of £15m for Dembele is also seemingly too high a price to pay for a player with two seasons of top level league experience.
