Axel Witsel will cost big bucks, say Portuguese club.
The president of Benfica has warned Manchester United that Axel Witsel will not be sold for less than £31 million.
The Belgium international has been linked with moves to United and AC Milan this summer, with Benfica reportedly willing to listed to offers for the 23-year-old.
But Luis Felipe Vieira has said that interested clubs must meet the midfielder’s release clause in order to prise the former Standard Liege engine man away from Estadio da Luz, according to Goal.com.
“Every club knows what his release clause is,” Vieira said. “If they come here and pay that fee, then there is nothing that we can do.
“We are very happy with Witsel and we do not think about selling him.”
Witsel made 29 league appearances for Benfica in 2011-12, scoring one goal in the process.
United have been linked with a number of midfielders already summer and look certain to add to their squad before the end of August.
