Spurs join Swansea and Newcastle in chase for speedy forward.
Tottenham are set to rival Newcastle and Swansea for transfer-listed Hoffenheim winger Ryan Babel.
The ex-Liverpool wide man has been told he can leave Germany this summer and has been omitted from Hoffenheim’s pre-season training camp in Austria.
Swansea and Newcastle have both expressed an interested in the 25-year-old who could be available for as little as £3 million.
But Spurs have now joined the hunt and are prepared to make Babel their second signing from the German outfit this summer, after landing playmaker Gylfi Sigurdsson for £8 million earlier this month, reports talkSPORT.
Babel spent four seasons at Liverpool but the Dutch flyer was frequently criticised for his poor final ball and lack of consistency.
The former Ajax star, who can also play up front, has 42 caps for the Netherlands, scoring 5 times.
Spurs are in need of cover up out-wide and up front, with Jermain Defoe currently the only senior striker on their books.
Newcastle, meanwhile, want Babel to replace former Manchester United flop Gabriel Obertan, who boss Alan Pardew considers the weak link in his attacking line-up.
The Daily Mail, conversely, reports that Fulham are leading the chase for Babel.
