Spurs ready to bid for Chelsea target Willian and teammate Fernandinho.
Tottenham Hotspur are preparing a £30 million bid for Shakhtar Donetsk pair Willian and Fernandinho.
New Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas wants the Brazilian duo at White Hart Lane and is prepared to offer the Ukrainian outfit the majority of the cash from Luka Modric’s imminent sale.
Right-winger Willian was reportedly the subject of a £19.5 million bid from Chelsea last week which was rejected by Shakhtar, who value the 23-year-old at closer to £25 million.
His compatriot Fernandinho is also highly valued but Spurs are hoping that a £30 million offer can persuade Shakhtar to sell.
Villas-Boas believes Willian will fit perfectly into his preferred 4-3-3 system on the right of an attacking three. The former Corinthians star has 2 caps for the national team and would welcome the interest from north London after admitting he wanted to leave the Donbass Arena.
Speedy defensive midfielder Fernandinho, meanwhile, is also a target for the north Londoners. The 27-year-old has been with Shakhtar since 2005 and it is believed he is keen for a fresh challenge.
The enforcer is known for the box-to-box style and tendency to chip in with important goals and Villas-Boas believes he can help make up for Modric’s loss.
The Croatian is expected to join Real Madrid for £35 million in the next fortnight.
