Agent claims there are ‘no shortage of offers’ for Uruguayan.
Liverpool have stepped up their interest in Bologna star Gaston Ramirez after watching the winger score for Uruguay in their Olympic opener.
Officials from Merseyside were impressed as the 21-year-old netted with a free-kick as the South Americans came from behind to beat UAE on Wednesday, and the Anfield club are ready to make a formal offer for the youngster.
Ramirez’s agent Pablo Betancourt has confirmed that the highly-rated star is set to leave Italy this summer and admitted that he was in talks with an unnamed Premier League club – believed to be Liverpool.
According to the London Evening Standard, Barcelona, AC Milan and both Manchester clubs are also chasing the player, with Bentancourt confirming there were several offers on the table.
“Gaston is ready to leave Italy – so much so I am in England for talks with a Premier League club,” he said.
“He is one of the most important players in Uruguay, so there are no shortage of offers.”
The former Penarol star is contracted to Bologna until 2016 and will likely cost Liverpool in the region of £16 million.
Any deal is likely to be concluded after Uruaguay’s participation in the Games, however.
