La Liga man on his way to the Emirates Stadium
Arsenal are close to securing a loan deal for Real Madrid midfielder Nuri Sahin .
The main sticking point is Arsenal wanting a purchase option, Real have been reluctant to give the London club a future transfer clause as they see Sahin as being part of their long-term plans.
Madrid-based British columnist Sid Lowe told Talksport, “I would put money on Sahin being on loan in the Premier League next season, probably at Arsenal.”
Also German journalist Raphael Honigstein told ESPN today, “Speaking to someone very close to Sahin today, I get the feeling there is a loan deal very much in place.
“I think the club they are close to is playing in North London.”

Real Madrid midfielder Nuri Sahin has seen his career stall following a year of very little first team football at the Bernabeu. The talented Turkish international had been instrumental in Borussia Dortmund’s Bundesliga title success of 2010/11 and then pushed for a move to the Spanish giants but has then found himself drowning in the sea of midfield talent that Jose Mourinho has to hand.
The 23 year old made just four La Liga appearances last term as he found himself battling with the likes of Mesut Ozil, Xabi Alonso, Kaka and Esteban Granero for game time.
The German born talent could well be tempted by a move to Arsenal where he could get his career back on track and a good run of form could either convince Mourinho of his worth or perhaps lead to a permanent move to the Emirates Stadium.
Though Arsene Wenger has a number of attack minded central midfield options the fact that he saw Jack Wilshere, Aaron Ramsey and Mikel Arteta all hit by injuries last term could well help convince the Gunners boss to strengthen his squad in this area.
Sahin made 152 appearances for Borussia Dortmund before he left for Madrid.
