Emirates Stadium side set to snap up talented duo.
Arsenal will complete deals to sign La Liga based pair Santi Cazorla and Nuri Sahin this week. Both players have reportedly agreed deals to sign for the Gunners and are both pending medicals which should be conducted within the next 48 hours.
Arsene Wenger has been looking to land the duo for a couple of weeks and is moving closer to securing their signatures after both Malaga and Real Madrid agreed to allow their respective midfielders to make their moves to the Emirates Stadium.
Though Malaga are set to see a change of ownership winger Santi Cazorla’s move to Arsenal will not be affected and the two sides have come to an agreement on a fee in the region of £17m that will see the Spanish international become the North London club’s most expensive signing.
The intelligent wide-man enjoyed a successful first season at La Rosaleda, helping Manuel Pellegrini’s side to clinch their maiden Champions League berth, it seems that Malaga are looking to cut costs and may feel that the sale of one big name player trumps the option of offloading a number of ‘lesser’ individuals.
Arsenal will also complete the loan signing of Turkish international Nuri Sahin in the next 48 hours, with the Real Madrid man moving to the Emirates Stadium pending a successful medical.
The former Borussia Dortmund man has struggled to break into Jose Mourinho’s starting eleven and whilst the attacking midfielder is said to still be a player the Bernabeu boss values the Portuguese manager is keen to hand the 23 year old the chance of getting some first team football under his belt.
Arsenal are reportedly looking to include a stipulation that would give them first refusal on a permanent deal following the completion of the season long loan spell but Real Madrid are as yet unsure of including such a clause in the deal.
Wenger is keen to bring in further creativity to his midfield, not least because youngster Jack Wilshere looks set to be sidelined until at least October and the likes of Mikel Arteta, Aaron Ramsey and Tomas Rosicky all have documented injury issues.
Sahin helped Borussia Dortmund to the Bundesliga title in 2010/11 before moving to the La Liga giants a year ago but barely featured in Mourinho’s La Liga title winning side.
