St James’ Park side the latest to take interest in Malaga stars.
Toul Army! Newcastle ponder move for Malaga midfielder Toulalan
Geordies join the ranks of Premier League clubs poised to cherry-pick players from the financially-troubled Spanish outfit
Newcastle boss Alan Pardew has made an enquiry about Malaga and France midfielder Jeremy Toulalan.
Toulalan’s former club Lyon are also interested in re-signing the 28-year-old, with crisis club Malaga being forced into a fire sale to ease their financial woes.
Malaga finished fourth in La Liga last season to qualify for the Champions League but money problems are leading to the break-up of the side.

Malaga may be in danger of losing a clutch of their best players as the La Liga side gets to grips with financial difficulties arising from the large sums spent by the club’s owners last summer. Those sums did secure the La Rosaleda club their first ever Champions League spot but clearly this came at a price and a change of ownership is now on the cards.
Santi Cazorla and Salomon Rondon have both been strongly linked with moves away from the club and Manuel Pellegrini may now find it tough to fend of Newcastle United’s advances for French international Jeremy Toulalan.
Though Alan Pardew has tough tackling Chieck Tiote as his first choice defensive midfielder the Magpies boss may feel a move to the experienced Malaga man would add further strength in depth as he looks to build on last season’s achievements.
28 year old Toulalan only moved to Malaga last summer having spent five years at Lyon, whom he helped to two Ligue 1 titles.
