Stadium of Light side close in on young Etihad Stadium striker.
Sunderland are poised to win the race for the loan signature of Manchester City striker John Guidetti, according to a report in Italy.
Black Cats boss Martin O’Neill is desperate to strengthen his attack at the Stadium of Light this summer and has already been linked with a swoop for the young Swedish forward, who has already been likened to his fellow international compatriot Zlatan Ibrahimovic, earlier in the transfer window.

This source suggests that Sunderland are set to land young Man City striker John Guidetti in a deal that would cost an initial £1.5m for a season long loan deal that would lead to a £6.5m permanent switch.
The Swedish international impressed greatly at Feyenoord last term, where the 20 year old netted 20 goals in 23 Eredivisie appearances. However Guidetti will struggle to break through at Man City with the likes of Sergio Aguero, Mario Balotelli, Carlos Tevez and Edin Dzeko all ahead of him in Roberto Mancini’s pecking order.
Sunderland had been trying to land Wolves forward Steven Fletcher but apparently baulked as the valuation set by the Molineux club for the Scottish international, who netted 12 Premier League goals last term despite his side finishing rock bottom.
Martin O’Neill could well do with striking reinforcements and Guidetti has the potential to be a good signing.
