White Hart Lane side look to bag Etihad Stadium forward.
Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas will is ready to call time on his efforts to bring Emmanuel Adebayor to the Etihad Stadium and instead look to land his Man City team-mate Edin Dzeko. The Bosnian international is apparently frustrated at his lack of first team action, despite his impressive goal-scoring record last term.
The former Wolfsburg man cost Man City £27m and though the big forward initially struggled for form he did manage to net 19 goals last term despite making only 26 starts in all competitions.
Roberto Mancini may well be ready to offload the 26 year old as he is likely to receive a large sum than he would have for Adebayor and Dzeko may well be open to a move to North London where he would stand a better chance of securing regular first team football.
Dzeko became a much sought after property after an astonishing successful spell in the Bundesliga where he managed 85 goals in 142 appearances and helped his Wolfsburg side to their first ever domestic title. A move to Man City should have put the 6ft 4in marksman on the map but instead he has found himself playing second or third fiddle behind Sergio Aguero and Mario Balotelli.
Indeed when Mancini welcomed Carlos Tevez back into the fold following his AWOL spell in Buenos Aires, Dzeko found himself as fourth choice starter.
Villas-Boas desperately needs fresh striking options as the newly installed Tottenham boss has just one recognised senior striker on his books, Jermain Defoe.
Moves to secure Emmanuel Adebayor on a permanent basis, following a very successful loan spell last term, have hit an impasse over the Togo international’s wage demands. The former Arsenal man is also in dispute with his club in relation to other financial issues that appear to be no nearer to being resolved.
