Anfield side line up move for Besiktas attacker.
Speculation is rife that Liverpool are readying a move for Portuguese international Ricardo Quaresma with Turkish sources claiming that the Anfield side are preparing a €8m (£6.3m) bid for the 28 year old Besiktas winger.
Brendan Rodgers has reportedly earmarked the former Barcelona & Inter Milan man as a potential replacement for Dirk Kuyt, who has himself recently moved to Turkey to join Fenerbahce. Quaresma at his peak was considered a player of great potential but the Lisbon born attacker failed to make an impact at the Nou Camp or the San Siro.
Quaresma may well be tempted by a return to the Premier League, having spent a brief spell on loan at Chelsea in 2009, and Rodgers could well feel the need to improve the club’s wide attacking options.
Both Jordan Henderson and Stewart Downing struggled for form during their debut seasons at Liverpool last term and a move for the experienced Portuguese winger could be an intelligent, and cost effective one, especially if the fee mentioned is sufficient to entice Besiktas to sell.
Ricardo Quaresma was part of Paulo Bento’s Euro 2012 squad though he failed to play a single minute of the finals tournament as Portugal made it through to the semi-finals before being knocked out by Spain.
