Upton Park and St James’ Park outfits chase Senegal international.
NEWCASTLE are battling with West Ham in the race to sign Senegal scoring sensation Moussa Konate.

West Ham’s need for fresh attacking options would appear to far outweigh Newcastle United’s given that Alan Pardew has two top notch Senegal internationals without the necessity to pick up an unusual hat-trick.
Sam Allardyce may have a number of strikers in his Upton Park squad but arguably only has one with proven Premier League experience and that in the form of the not so prolific Carlton Cole. The West Ham boss failed in his attempts to sign Liverpool flop Andy Carroll and a move for Moussa Konate may prove more realistic.
The teenage Maccabi Tel-Aviv forward has been a big success at the 2012 Olympics, netting six goals in four games, and whilst it’s clear that success on a short term scale is no guarantee of quality the 19 year old could be a player worth tracking.
Pardew may see Konate as a back-up option who could learn from fellow countrymen Papiss Cisse and Demba Ba. Expect other prospective suitors to make their interest known.
