Three new signings in the bag but Arsene Wenger hasn’t finished his Emirates Stadium spending yet.
Gunner keep going! Wenger plans more signings now Cazorla’s done
Ajax’s van der Wiel and Marseille’s N’Koulou are in the frame as Wenger seeks a versatile defender – but Sahin could be Anfield bound
Rennes and France midfielder Yann M’Vila has also been a long-term target.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is looking for a versatile defender who can play both right-back – where first-choice Bacary Sagna will miss the start of the season through injury – and centre-half.
Ajax’s Dutch international Gregory van der Wiel is on their radar, while Marseille’s Nicolas N’Koulou is another possibility.

It seems Arsene Wenger is beginning to enjoy the act of spending money on proven quality and having already brought in Lukas Podolski, Olivier Giroud and Santi Cazorla the Gunners boss wants to bring in further additions as he sets about improving his Arsenal squad ahead of a hoped step up to pursue major honours this coming season.
Ajax full-back Gregory van der Wiel is an experienced performer who may well look to leave his Amsterdam club this summer having seen team-mates Mounir El Hamdaoui and Jan Vertonghen leave for Fiorentina and Tottenham respectively. Though Frank De Boer’s side have clinched back to back domestic titles he is still finding it tough to keep his top talents.
The 24 year old Dutch international could well be a useful addition to challenge Bacary Sagna for his spot and replace him when he is out injured, which is fairly often. The French international broke his leg twice last term and forced a succession of makeshift replacements, most notably (and not for the right reasons) being Johan Djourou.
Rennes youngster M’Vila has consistently been linked with a move to the North London club but no deal has been forthcoming. The Frenchman has certainly outgrown his Ligue 1 side and Arsenal could do with an extra defensive midfielder but that deal seems no nearer completion today than it was a month ago.
Young Marseille defender Nicolas N’Koulou is also on the Gunners radar and is perhaps a more usual Wenger-esque target. The 22 year old is a relative unknown but has certainly got the potential to make a name for himself.
The Cameroon international came through the ranks at Wenger’s former club Monaco and did fairly well in his first season at the Stade Velodrome last term.
Arsene Wenger may well need to offload a few of his less needed squad members in order to help balance the books, not least if they look to bring in further additions. However they will hope that this recent level, and quality, of spending will help to convince skipper Robin Van Persie to put pen to paper on a new contract.
