Anfield side close in on Liberty Stadium youngster.
Liverpool have made a £15m bid for Swansea’s Joe Allen, triggering a release clause in the Wales international’s contract.
The 22-year-old midfielder held talks with Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins on Wednesday and will meet with manager Michael Laudrup on Thursday.
Liverpool are now confident they can proceed quickly to complete the move.

So this deal seems close to completion. If indeed Liverpool have met Joe Allen’s release clause and talks are already underway with the Welsh international then a deal would appear to be practically done. The pint sized youngster had an impressive first season in the Premier League last term and is clearly a player Brendan Rodgers knows well and has seen the Carmarthen born schemer seamlessly take the step up from the Championship.
Rodgers had attempted to secure Allen with an earlier deal that involved a £12m fee and the inclusion of Jonjo Shelvey on a season long loan, a deal that Swansea City were not keen on, hence the second straight cash offer that triggers a release clause.
Liverpool are hoping to make Allen their second signing of the summer having brought in another player Rodgers has worked with previously, Roma forward Fabio Borini.
Allen has been at Swansea City since the age of nine and has made a total of 147 appearances for the Liberty Stadium side, his debut coming when the club was languishing in League One.
