Frenchman to join Hammers.
West Ham are on the verge of signing France midfielder Alou Diarra from Marseilles in a cut-price £2m deal.
The 31-year-old is set to arrive in London to have a medical and agree personal terms before sealing a move to Upton Park, reports the Daily Mail.
Towering enforcer Diarra starred for Le Bleus at Euro 2012 after stepping in for the injured Yann M’Vila.
But the former Liverpool player was disappointing for Marseilles last season, after arriving for £4.5m from Bordeaux last summer.
Diarra’s attitude has been questioned after he returned from Euro 2012 six days late and the club are now keen to get his £60,000 a week wages off their books.
As a youngster, Diarra joined Bayern Munich before being taken to Anfield by Gerard Houllier in 2002, but he struggled to settle on Merseyside and eventually joined Lens after several loan spells back in France.
The Frenchman’s current teammate, Cesar Azpilicueta, is set to join him in the Premier League, with the Spanish under-21 international closing in on a £10m move to Chelsea. And QPR are one of several clubs interested in Marseilles’ Cameroonian centre-half Stephane Mbia as the exodus from L’OM gathers pace.
