One-time England midfielder nears Blackpool move.
QPR batboy Joey Barton is nearing a season-long loan move to Championship side Blackpool, after a similar switch to Fleetwood Town collapsed.
Barton has been training with League Two Fleetwood for the last fortnight but the Hoops’ have blocked a loan switch to the Trawlermen.
Blackpool are keen to get one over rivals Fleetwood and have approached the R’s about taking misfit Barton on loan for the season, according to the Daily Mail.
Barton must serve a twelve match ban at the start of the new campaign after being sent off in the final game of last season for clashing violently with several Manchester City players, as the Champions claimed the title in dramatic fashion at Eastlands.
A loan move to the Football League will speed up the serving of Barton’s ban and the one-time England midfielder is open to joining the Tangerines.
It is unclear whether the 29-year-old would return to Loftus Road after the completion of his ban or remain at Blackpool for the entire season, however.
