Striker will not be sold on the cheap, say Basque club.Athletic Bilbao have insisted that want-away striker Fernando Llorente will not be sold on the cheap, with Manchester City and Spurs both tracking the Spaniard.
Llorente has made it clear he wants to leave the Basque club this summer, reportedly to fulfil his ambition of playing Champions League football.
The 27-year-old forward has just 12 months remaining on his current deal at Athletic and some reports suggested that the club would let him leave on the cheap, rather than risk losing him for nothing next summer.
Both Tottenham and Manchester City have been seeking reinforcements to their front-line this summer and are eyeing the Spanish international.
But Bilbao’s president Josu Urruti has insisted that Llorente will only be sold for a huge offer.
“We are not talking to any other club because Athletic is not a selling club,” said Urruti, according London 24.
“For him to leave Athletic, the player must not want to be with us and other clubs who want him must pay the amount of the release clause in his contract.
“I continue to want Fernando Llorente to stay here.”
Llorente scored twice against Manchester United in the Europa League quarter-final last season and the Red Devils have also been linked with a move for the forward.
