Sahin wants Gunners switch.
Real Madrid star Nuri Sahin is closing in on a move to Arsenal, according to a well-respected journalist.
The Turkish midfielder has been linked with a switch to the Premier League this summer with Arsenal, Spurs and Liverpool all reportedly keen on the 23-year-old.
Real boss Jose Mourinho has given Sahin the green light to leave the Bernebeu after using the battling midfielder only sparingly as an auxiliary left-back during pre-season.
The Spanish giants have attempted to use Sahin as bait in their attempts to land Tottenham’s £40m-rated midfielder Luka Modric but German journalist Raphael Honigstein stressed that Sahin is only interested in a move to Spurs’ north London neighbours.
“He’s [Sahin] got one problem: Luka Modric. The deal [for Modric to join Real] is all but done both clubs are pushing for ?ahin to be included,” Honigstein is quoted as saying by turkish-football.com.
“He’s made them both aware that he’s not interested in a move to Spurs. He’s quite categorical, so they are quite out of the picture as far as he’s concerned.
“He’s got three offers. One of them is Arsenal; the other is Liverpool. His preference is for Champions League football. However, he’s not 100% against going to another club if Arsenal for some reason don’t come through.
“So he’s a little bit stuck. However, I’ve been told and can quote here a solution for him will be found next week and I think it will still be the Premier League,” Honigstein finished.
Sahin’s agent Reza Fazeli confirmed that his agent is likely to leave Real imminently.
“There is interest from many clubs, let’s just wait and see,” he said.
Mourinho, meanwhile has admitted it would be better for all parties if the Turkish international left the Spanish capital.
“I want to be honest and Sahin is living in this grey zone because the market is open,” said the Portuguese.
“If the possibility arises for him to go to another place it would be better for him to leave and to be able to have more minutes on the pitch.”
