Chelsea could offer Kakuta as part of deal for Spaniard.
Chelsea winger Gael Kakuta has stated his desire to leave Stamford Bridge with a move to Marseille in his sights.
The 21-year-old told L’Equipe: “Chelsea’s sporting director Michael Emenalo told me (in July) it will depend on the coach’s choices. I explained I would wait to see how it goes in pre-season.
“My decision is definite now. It is an important moment in my career. It is better for me to leave the club and find one where I could play matches regularly.
“Chelsea told me they rely on me. It is nice to rely on me, but I am 21-years-old. You can tell me that at 17-years-old or 18-years-old, but I need to play. I thought more players would have left the club.”
Marseille are reported to have shown an interest in the former Fulham loanee, a move Kakuta would welcome, despite the club finishing a dismal 10th in the French top flight last season.
“Stepping back, I believe Ligue 1 will be good for me,” he added. “It will be a good stay. My objective is to play a complete season with 25 matches.
“Marseille is a club I like. In France, they are one of the three clubs I am following the most with Lyonand Lille. With the players they have, I have no concerns. The club is not finished.”

Chelsea’s frantic search for a new right-back could strangely come down to to French flop Gael Kakuta. The 21-year-old has been at Stamford Bridge since 2007 but his spell in west London is memorable for little else other than nearly landing Chelsea an 18 month transfer embargo.
The winger is desperate to leave the Blues this summer and return to his native France, with Marseilles one of the club’s eyeing his signature.
It so happens that Chelsea are tracking Marseilles defender Cesar Azpilicueta and could now offer Kakuta in part exchange for the promising Spaniard.
Roberto Di Matteo has been desperate for a new right-back after releasing Jose Bosingwa and has made enquiries about Mathieu Debuchy of Lille and Internazionale’s Maicon. However, 22-year-old Azpilicueta seems to be the man the Italian has settled on to fill the troublesome spot but Marseilles are proving a tough nut to crack.
Chelsea are thought to have offered around £8.5m for the Spain under-21 international, with the Ligue 1 side looking for £10m plus. Unwanted Kakuta could provide the perfect sweetener for L’Om and let’s face it, with the arrival of so many new faces at Stamford Bridge this summer, he’s hardly likely to be missed.
