Stimac says Modric will join Real before close of transfer window.
Croatia coach Igor Stimac has said that Tottenham midfielder Luka Modric will join Real Madrid before the close of the transfer window.
Modric is desperate to leave White Hart Lane before the 31 August deadline but Madrid have so far been unwilling to meet Spurs’ £35m valuation of the schemer.
The Spanish giants are only prepared to pay £25m for the 26-year-old and the possibility of an unhappy Modric remaining in north London is increasing by the day.
Modric is so desperate for a move to Real that refused to participate in the Spurs’ pre-season tour of the USA and is currently training alone.
With World Cup qualifiers around the corner, Stimac is unhappy that Modric is yet to feature for Spurs in pre-season but believes the move to Real will be completed before the start of September.
“I don’t like the situation that he is in at all, he has not played any matches at all this summer,” Stimac is quoted as saying by the Evening Standard.
“However, he will sign for Madrid before the market shuts.”
Tottenham are reportedly eyeing a move for Rennes enforcer Yann M’Vila to replace want-away Modric, while attacking midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson has already joined the club this summer.
