Rodgers believes loan deal is nearly complete.
Liverpool are close to completing a stunning loan swoop for Barcelona’s prized winger Cristian Tello.
Reds boss Brendan Rodgers has been tracking Tello since he took over at Anfield and believes the winger can add much needed pace and trickery to his new look Liverpool side.
Barcelona are reluctant to sell the 21-year-old Catalan but have grudgingly agreed to a season-long loan switch because Tello feels he needs more regular football to progress, reports the Daily Mirror.
Tello joined Barcelona from city rivals Espanyol two years ago and has made a big impact at the Nou Camp since making his La Liga debut in January.
The youngster scored twice from the bench in his first Champions League appearance against Bayer Leverkusen in March and also found the net on his full debut in the league.
Rodgers is understood to be confident that a deal for the wide-man is close and the signing would represent a significant coup for the former Swansea boss.
Tello has been tracked by a host of clubs including Arsenal, Valencia, Malaga and Benfica but is thought to favour a move to Merseyside.
