Reds eye La Liga duo.
Liverpool are closing in on the loan signings of La Liga duo Nuri Sahin and Cristian Tello, according to the Daily Post.
Real Madrid midfielder Sahin is also wanted by Arsenal but Liverpool have stolen a march on their Premier League rivals courtesy of boss Brendan Rodgers’ good relationship with Real coach Jose Mourinho.
Sahin is expected to arrive at Anfield this week to finalise personal terms ahead of a season-long loan move.
The 23-year-old Turk has been told he can leave the Bernebeu after being used as an auxiliary left-back in pre-season.
Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester United have all expressed an interest in Sahin, who was instrumental as former club Borussia Dortmund claimed the Bundesliga title in 2010/11.
But Liverpool have won the race for the box-to-box midfielder and also appear to have beaten the Gunners to speedy Barcelona winger Tello.
The 21-year-old made a big impression at the Nou Camp last season but with David Villa set to return to fitness and Pedro back on form, the Catalans are prepared to send Tello on loan for the coming campaign.
The pair would be a significant boost to Rodgers ahead of Liverpool’s Premier League opener with West Brom on Saturday.
