Rodgers eyeing Caulker and Dawson.
Tottenham are bracing themselves for an approach from Liverpool for either centre-back Steven Caulker or Michael Dawson.
The Anfield outfit are scouting a host of alternatives to Daniel Agger, who has been subject of bids from both Barcelona and Manchester City this summer.
The Dane has no immediate desire to leave Merseyside, but recently admitted that the lure of playing in Spain could prove too much.

While Daniel Agger has made it perfectly clear he wants to remain at Anfield, rumours linking the Dane with a big-money move to Manchester City or Barcelona persist and it’s looking increasingly likely that Liverpool will sell for the right price.
If Agger departs, the Reds will be in the market for a centre-back and boss Brendan Rodgers may look no further than one of Spurs duo Michael Dawson or Steven Caulker.
The latter spent last season on loan at Swansea under Rodgers’ guidance and the Northern Irishman was desperate to land the 22-year-old centre-half for another season, until he took the Liverpool job.
Caulker is one of the brightest prospects in the Premier League and recently made Roy Hodgson’s England squad, so it would take a hefty offer for Spurs to even consider selling the youngster.
That said, like Dawson, he is unlikely to a first choice in Spurs back-line for the coming season, with new-boy Jan Vertonghen and Younes Kaboul thought to be Andre Villas-Boas’ preferred choices at centre-half.
If Rodgers is prepared to trust Caulker at Anfield as he did at the Liberty Stadium, a move north could prove attractive for the stopper.
As for Dawson, it is thought his lack of pace makes him unsuitable for Villas-Boas’ high defensive line and he may consider a move to Anfield for regular football. Watch this space.
