Stamford Bridge side re-enter chase for want-away White Hart Lane midfielder.
Luka Modric is set to snub new interest from Chelsea to drive through his Real Madrid move this week.
The Blues have made a fresh enquiry for the £30 million Croatian star, but he is desperate to join the Spanish champions.
Tottenham’s interest in Chelsea duo Raul Meireles and Daniel Sturridge prompted the Blues to ask again about structuring a deal that would see the pair move to White Hart Lane and Modric go to Stamford Bridge.
But Modric has set his heart on joining Madrid and sources close to the player claim his head will not be turned by Chelsea – even though he wanted to join the Blues last summer.

This may well be a deal that interests Tottenham more than it interests Luka Modric.
The Croatian has apparently set his heart on a move to Real Madrid who appear to be playing hardball with the White Hart Lane club over the 26 year old’s price-tag.
A move that would see Daniel Sturridge and Raul Meireles move to Tottenham would almost certainly appeal to Andre Villas-Boas for two reasons. One it would mean reuniting with two players he had a good relationship with from his time at Stamford Bridge, players he had a lot of faith in during his brief spell as Blues boss. Secondly it would mean that the North London club wouldn’t lose time trying to hunt around for other targets.
Tottenham have been linked with a myriad of attackers this summer and have not managed to add to the one senior striker they have in their squad, namely Jermain Defoe.
22 year old attacker Sturridge impressed during Villas-Boas’s tenure as Chelsea manager though was used fairly often in a wide attacking role. The Portuguese boss may well feel that the former Man City man would be a very useful adaptable tool to add to his Tottenham squad.
Raul Meireles could indeed be seen as a like for like replacement for Modric and the former Liverpool man may well be tempted by a move to Spurs as his first team place may well have been compromised by the arrivals of Eden Hazard and Oscar this summer.
Clearly if Real Madrid do not pay a fee that Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is happy with then the possibility of doing business with a fellow Premier League side like Chelsea becomes more plausible.
Either way Tottenham would not want to end up still employing Luka Modric come September 1st, not after the player made it so abundantly clear he did not wish to remain at the club.
