Craven Cottage side line up bid for Shakhtar Donetsk forward.
FULHAM are in talks with former Arsenal star Eduardo as a possible £7?million replacement for rebel forward Clint Dempsey.
Fulham have turned to the Shakhtar Donetsk striker as the man they want to replace the United States international, who was fined last week for refusing to play for the club.
It’s fair to say that Rio born Croatian international Eduardo da Silva never really got a chance to prove himself in the English top flight during his three year spell at the Emirates Stadium. The lions share of the blame for that laying firmly at the feet of Birmingham City centre back Martin Taylor, who viciously assaulted the Arsenal man in a fixture in February 2008 which resulted in a broken fibula and an ankle dislocation which left the striker out for a year.
Eduardo was never the same again and was sold to Shakhtar Donetsk for £6m in July 2010 where he began to get his career back on track.
The former Gunners striker netted 19 goals in his first team seasons which went some way to helping his side to back to back Ukrainian titles. A move back to the Premier League may tempt Eduardo and £7m may well be a good enough fee to get the deal done.
Fulham managed perfectly well without Clint Dempsey on the opening day of the season, with the Cottagers clinching a 5-0 win over Norwich City, however that isn’t to say that Martin Jol won’t be needing some attacking support and a move for Edurdo may be a very sensible one to consider.
