Old Trafford side launch move for Olympic hero.
Manchester United are considering a £10million move for Mexico’s Olympic star Hector Herrera.
The 22-year-old midfielder was the inspiration behind Mexico’s gold medal victory and has been on United’s radar for over a year with Liverpool also very keen.
Pachuca sporting director Andres Fassi has announced they had had a fresh approach from United requesting permission to approach the starlet who is nicknamed ‘Zorro’.
Fassi said: ‘There is an official interest. We have the document, but there’s nothing else to add at this time.’

Though Hector Herrera was a key player in Mexico’s 2012 Olympic triumph he is still something of an unknown quantity but Sir Alex Ferguson has in all likelihood had the midfielder extensively scouted in much the same manner he approached the capture of Javier Hernandez.
The Pachuca player is a box to box performer, known for putting in his fair share of tough tackling but able to push on forwards and is considered one of the hottest prospects in Mexican football.
The 22 year old only made his top tier debut a year ago so it goes some way to show the midfielder’s progress that he is now being linked with genuine interest from Old Trafford.
Sir Alex Ferguson may well be looking to bring in fresh central midfilder options given that his current offerings in the position are either in the latter stages of their careers or in something of a slump. Paul Scholes has at best one more season in the tank, Michael Carrick is perhaps not the player he once was.
Anderson has steadfastly failed to impress for the best part of 18 months. Darren Fletcher is still recovering from illness and Tom Cleverley is yet to make an impact or secure a lengthy run in the first team.
