Marseille man on his way to Stamford Bridge.
Green light for Blues: Marseille leave Chelsea target Azpilicueta out of Euro squad as £7m deal struck
Reports in France say transfer fee agreed between clubs for 22-year-old Spanish right-back ahead of signing five-year deal at Stamford Bridge
Azpilicueta has been linked with the European champions virtually all year and reports in France have claimed an agreement was reached over a transfer fee late last night.
It was also suggested the 22-year-old Spaniard, who started Marseille’s opening two Ligue 1 games of the season, would sign a five-year deal at Stamford Bridge.
The fee was said to be undisclosed but it has been reported to be in the region of £7million.

After two goals in two games perhaps Branislav Ivanovic should be pushed up front and not into the centre of defence? But seriously, it seems clear that Roberto Di Matteo needs a specialized right-back since the club opted to release Jose Bosingwa and clearly Cesar Azpilicueta is a player the West London club has been chasing for some weeks now.
The 22 year old has been left out of Marseille’s Europa League squad for the fixture against FC Sheriff and that appears a nod to such a deal having been agreed.
The Pamplona born right-back has had two solid seasons at the Stade Velodrome but may well be more amenable to a move to Stamford Bridge after Marselle’s poor tenth place finish last term, their worst Ligue 1 finish in eleven seasons.
Roman Abramovich has already forked out over £65m to bring in Eden Hazard, Oscar and Marko Marin so is highly unlikely to consider £7m a problem, especially if those funds help to add balance to a defence that struggled last night against newly promoted Reading.
