Wenger predicts ins and outs at the Emirates.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has told fans to except a busy end to the transfer window, despite missing out on Real Madrid’s Nuri Sahin who is set to join Liverpool.
Wenger has spent two weeks working on a deal for Sahin, as a replacement for Alex Song who moved to Barcelona for £15m.
But the Turk has opted to join Liverpool, leaving Arsenal fans understandably frustrated.
Speaking ahead of his team’s trip to Stoke on Saturday, Wenger claimed there could be be a flurry of transfer activity at the Emirates before the 31 August deadline.
‘We are working in the market. We’ll see what we can do,’ Wenger told Arsenal.com.
‘I don’t want make a promise that I cannot keep. But there still could be some action on the transfer market – ins and outs.’
‘The transfer market is open for two months and yet for one month and three weeks it is nearly closed.
‘It wakes up completely in the last week and then every minute becomes important.
‘Everybody has played for time for seven or eight weeks and now suddenly everyone is in a hurry. And that is when the most intense activity happens.’
Wenger has been busy in the transfer market this summer, spending over £35m on attacking reinforcements Santi Cazorla, Olivier Giroud and Lukas Podolski.
But the French tactician lost captain Robin van Persie to Manchester United and Song within the space of a week, taking the shine off the north Londoners busy summer.
The club are thought to be desperate to offload unwanted attackers Niklas Bendtner, Park Chu-Young, Marouane Chamakh and Andrei Arshavin but have as yet been unable to find suitors for the quartet.
