Assou-Ekotto says Portuguese is more focussed on tactics than Harry Redknapp.
Eccentric Tottenham left-back Benoit Assou-Ekotto has labelled new boss Andre Villas-Boas ‘the son of Mourinho’.
Villas-Boas replaced Harry Redknapp as Spurs head-coach this summer but has suffered an indifferent start in the Premier League, picking up just one point from his opening two games.
But Assout-Ekotto, who scored in Spurs 1-1 home draw with West Brom on Saturday, says the Portuguese tactician is slowing implementing his ideas on the squad.
“He’s cool,” the full-back told talkSPORT. “He has a different way to work so we learn different things from him.
“He’s like the son of Mourinho because he used to work with him and he works in the same style.”
Villas-Boas worked with master tactician Mourinho, now Real Madrid boss, at Porto, Chelsea and Inter Milan and Assou-Ekotto says that there is now more focus on tactics than there was under motivator Redknapp.
“We do a little more tactics at training. If we work more about tactics we can win and we will enjoy [our football].”
