Gunners prepared to offload forward after contract talks break down.
Liverpool could be set for a dramatic deadline deal to sign Arsenal’s Theo Walcott, after contract talks between the player and north London club broke down.
Walcott is in the final season of his current deal at the Emirates Stadium and had been in talks over a new five-year extension for some time, with Arsene Wenger confirming earlier this month that the club were hopeful of extending the 23-year-old’s spell in north London.
But Sky Sports understands that talks have no broken down and Arsenal will considering selling the England international if they receive a bid of between £12m and £15m.
Boss Wenger warned earlier in the summer that ‘when a player doesn’t want to stay, you either force him or you let him go’, after selling Robin van Persie and Alex Song and it is looking increasingly likely that Walcott will be the third high-profile departure from the club this summer.
Liverpool are favourites to sign the former Southampton star, although Manchester City are also interested.
The Champions are in the market for a winger after selling Adam Johnson to Sunderland and are struggling to conclude a deal for Swansea’s Scott Sinclair.
It is understood that Walcott would happily join either club. The speedy wide-man has made over 220 appearances for the Gunners, since joining the club in 2006.
