Dutch midfielder snapped up by Milan club.
AC Milan are set to sign Nigel De Jong from Manchester City after the player arrived in Italy to complete a move.
The Netherlands international has announced that he is delighted to have finalised the switch, after Manchester City sanctioned a deal for thought to be worth £6m for the 27-year-old, who was deemed surplus to requirements at the Etihad Stadium, reports Sky Sports.
“I’m happy, AC Milan is a great club and they are a new important chance for me in my life,” said De Jong.
With the likes of Yaya Toure, David Silva, Gareth Barry and Samir Nasri already at the disposal of City boss Roberto Mancini in the midfield, and several more signings expected before the close of the transfer window at midnight on Friday, De Jong was likely to struggle for first-team action this campaign.
His departure will, therefore, come as no surprise to City fans, and will free-up space on the already excessive wage bill for new signings to arrive.
De Jong made 128 appearances for City, scoring twice.
