Martin Jol may well have just picked up one of the signings of the summer. Dimitar Berbatov found himself relegated to fifth choice striker at Old Trafford following the arrival of Robin Van Persie and that may well softened Sir Alex Ferguson’s stance on allowing the Bulgarian to leave.
The former Tottenham man will be linking up with his former White Hart Lane boss as he looks to re-ignite a career that was festering on the Man United bench.
Berbatov finished as the Premier League’s joint top scorer in 2010/11, helping Man United to the title however the writing appeared to be on the wall for the 31 year old when he was left out of Ferguson’s squad for the Champions League final against Barcelona.
The stylish striker was handed just five Premier League starts last term but still managed seven goals and may well prove to be a very clever bit of business by the Craven Cottage side.
