By all accounts 27 year old former England international Kieran Richardson had been keen to move back to London for family reasons and Sunderland boss Martin O’Neill appeared ready to allow such a deal to take place and Fulham whirled into action to land the adaptable Black Cats star.
Richardson had spent five years at the Stadium of Light, notching up 149 appearances for the North-East side, following a £5.5m move from Man United in 2007 and the former Old Trafford man had played in a number of positions during his time at the club.
Always comfortable on the ball Richardson has been used as a left back, left winger as well as in a central midfield role and even on occasion as a support striker.
Martin Jol will be delighted to have landed the experienced performer who has been eight England caps to his name.
