Spaniard set for Etihad Stadium switch.
Manchester City are close to landing Javi Garcia in a £24million move from Benfica.
That would cap a frantic day of spending for boss Roberto Mancini, who has already completed deals for Maicon and Scott Sinclair.

Man City summer signings are beginning to resemble London buses, wait ages for one and then three come along at once.
Having only brought in Jack Rodwell in the first couple of months of the transfer window Roberto Mancini had been complaining about the lack of investment in his Man City squad, which is of course slightly laughable given the money pumped in to help clinch the Premier League title, but the arrivals of Scott Sinclair and Maicon in the past 24 hours have now been quickly followed by the apparent capture of Javi Garcia.
Mancini has seemingly turned to 25 year old Benfica enforcer Javi Garcia after failing to lure Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi to the club and this source states it will cost around £24m to snap up the Spaniard, who has seen his career resurrected in Lisbon having failed to make the grade at Real Madrid.
Though Man City have the likes of Gareth Barry, Yaya Toure and Nigel de Jong, Mancini appears to want to sign a central midfielder who can add extra bite to his side, perhaps this is in lieu of Toure’s likely involvement in the African Nations Cup in South Africa in January and February.
