Malaga swoop for City outcast Santa-Cruz.
He will move to Spain after becoming surplus to requirements at Eastlands, falling behind Carlos Tevez, Mario Balotelli, Sergio Aguero and Edin Dzeko.
Santa Cruz is poised to sign a deal with Malaga later on Friday, once he has completed a medical.
He told a Paraguay radio station: “I had in mind to return to Betis, that was always my idea because Betis has always treated me very well.
“But in the last weeks there was interest from Malaga. I would have the chance to play the Champions League there and that was the reason I accepted to be transferred to that team.

Manchester City striker Roque Santa-Cruz is waving goodbye to the Premier League and is on his way to Malaga…
The Paraguayan forward, who joined Manchester City from Blackburn Rovers for £18m in 2009, looks finally set to end his unhappy spell at the Etihad Stadium by making the move to Spain.
Santa Cruz, who has not been a part of City manager Roberto Mancini’s plans for some time now, has revealed that the lure of Champions League football, plus the chance to actually play, at Malaga was too good to turn down.
While it comes as little surprise to hear Santa Cruz is on his way out of City, the player had been expected to make the move to another Spanish club – Real Betis – but it appears the late offer from Malaga was enough to turn the player’s head.
Santa Cruz has scored 25 goals in 89 appearances since making his Paraguay debut in 1999.
