Cottagers have offer accepted by French club for Brazilian defender.
Fulham are set to complete the £7m signing of Lyon wide-man Michel Bastos, according to Sky Sports, after the French club accepted a bid from the Cottagers.
Bastos generally plays at left-back, but is comfortable at operating further forward, and will add class and international experience to the Fulham side, should he complete the move.
French football expert Matt Spiro is quoted by the BBC as saying: “Le Parisien report that Fulham are closing in on a £7m swoop for Lyon winger Michel Bastos. Employed at left-back by the Seleção at the last World Cup, the 29-year-old has been in fine form in Ligue 1 this season, scoring two brilliant goals for OL already.”
Fulham boss Martin Jol has already unveiled Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov and Bastos could now join the Bulgarian as a new arrival at the south-west London club before the close of the transfer window at midnight on Friday.
Bastos made the transfer to Lyon from fellow French side Lille in 2009, and the move was swiftly followed by the player’s first inclusion in a Brazil squad, in November of that year.
He has made 80 appearances for Lyon, scoring 23 goals.
