Jenas could stay at White Hart Lane.
Jermaine Jenas may not be part of the mass exodus from Tottenham today, after his proposed loan move to Sunderland fell through, according to Sky Sports.
Premier League rules prevent more than one player from the same club joining a team on loan, so Jenas was unable to make the switch after his teammate Danny Rose joined the Black Cats on a season-long loan.
Sunderland cannot afford a permanent move so the deal is now unlikely to go ahead before midnight.
The 29-year-old is one of several players who were expected to leave the north London club on Friday, with Giovani dos Santos, Danny Rose and Rafa van der Vaart having already left, with Michael Dawson and Heurelho Gomes expected to follow.
Former Newcastle star Jenas has been with Spurs since 2005 but has struggled for a first team place for the past two seasons and was loaned out to Aston Villa at the start of last term. An injury soon forced him back to Spurs but he didn’t make a single appearance, as Spurs finished fifth.
