Sunderland make move for out-of-favour Spurs midfielder.
Sunderland have opened talks with Tottenham Hotspur over a deal for England midfielder Jermaine Jenas, according to Sky Sports,
The deal will see the former England international, deemed surplus to requirements by new Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas, follow Spurs team-mate Danny Rose to the north East.
Jenas has found first-team opportunities limited at Spurs in recent seasons and was loaned out to Aston Villa at the start of last season, where injury limited him to just 3 appearances before he returned to White Hart Lane for treatment.
With Spurs having already landed Mousa Dembele from Fulham, the Lilywhites now look set to complete the signing of Portugese ace Joao Moutinho from Porto.
Furthermore, it would appear that Tom Huddlestone will remain at the club, meaning first-team opportunities look bleak for Jenas this season, with holding midfielders Scott Parker, Sandro and Jake Livermore also competing for places at the north London club.
A former Newcastle United player, Jenas has notched up a total of 201 appearances for Spurs, scoring 26 goals.
